Happy New Year Revolutionaries!! I love New Years for both the celebration and the focus that it brings on creation and intentions. For one, I love a party! I love the energy of when people are together, happy and enjoying the moment with each other. I credit my Dad who is a great friend and masterful social coordinator for being the one who birthed my love of FUN! For my whole life, my Dad has loved bringing people together with his classic line “it’s time to practice our social skills”. After the last few years, it is indeed time for us all to polish those social skills, let our hair down, listen to great music and enjoy being alive!!
With that in mind, I’m excited to share one of our dreams that is coming to life. Revolution Now will be hosting our 2nd Annual Party on February 4th at Market Brewery in Newmarket, Ontario. The purpose of this party will be to generate our 2nd Annual Academic Scholarship for a local Black student. It will definitely be a great time with musician Stacie Tabb headlining this event and local musician and humanitarian, Glenn Marais also making an appearance. We look forward to the energy that is present every time the Revolutionaries get together. We look forward to the networking, the collaborating, the laughter and the magic that happens when our community comes together to celebrate Black Excellence. The Revolution Party nights are not just about the hours that we share but also about the connections that are made and the community that we continue to build.
The focus on creation and making intentions is something else that I love about New Years. There is something powerful about speaking your desires into creation. New Years is a time where we can allow ourselves to pause and listen to the purpose that resides in our hearts. It is a time to verbalize those dreams and to create a community that will help us to breathe them into reality. On New Years this year, I heard people speaking those spiritual dreams about health, family, volunteerism, environmentalism and equality. It’s inspiring to hear adults dreaming out loud. It’s something that often gets lost in the hustle and bustle of our grown up lives and obligations. This year, I encourage you to listen to and manifest your grown up dreams and to support others in doing the same. Surround yourself with people who still believe in fun and in our ability to create the world of our dreams. It really does all start with us.
This year, Revolution Now is also setting the intention of helping to create a social network for young 2SLGBTQ+ people to make new friends, access professional mentors and get connected to community resources. We are thankful for our community partners who are generously supporting our planning with both facilities and support. Please be in touch if you would like to partner with us in these efforts and stay tuned as our plans unfold.
As always, thank you for being a part of this social movement and for all that you do in your sphere of influence to bring about social equity and positive environmental and cultural change. This is our time – let’s go change the world!!
With Gratitude,
Megan
